Radiesse

Collagen and elastin keep our skin supple, fresh and youthful. As time goes by, skin looses its’ property to bounce back and becomes saggier, especially around mid, lower face and body areas such as hands.”
RADIESSE® has unique property of collagen and elastin stimulation with immediate results that improve over the time, offering natural and refreshed look. Simultaneously, it restores volume, improves contour of treated areas and diminishes wrinkles.

Radiesse

Information

Radiesse is an FDA-approved injectable filler used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and smooth marionette lines around the mouth. It can also be used to correct volume loss in the back of the hands. In many patients, results can last a year or more. It is made of calcium hydroxyapatite, microspheres suspended in a gel carrier which consists mainly of water and glycerine. Radiesse is highly biocompatible. Calcium hydroxylapatite is the main mineral component of bone and teeth, which consists of calcium and phosphate ions that occur naturally in the body.

After injecting into the skin, Radiesse gel carrier acts as an instant filler, providing immediate correction. As the gel carrier is absorbed over 8-12 weeks, the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres act as a scaffold and stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin in and around them. Eventually, the microspheres degrade into calcium and phosphate ions and are removed from the body in a natural process of elimination.

FAQs

Which areas can be treated with RADIESSE®?

Different areas of the face can be addressed as well as the back of the hands. At your initial consultation, we will conduct skin analysis and discuss a tailored treatment plan to meet your skin needs. It could be that you need treatment for one or more of these options:

  • Facial wrinkles and folds,
  • Facial contours- to enhance or correct cheeks, jawline, nose reshaping, chin enhancement,
  • Marionette lines,
  • Shape and re-define drooping jawlines and jowls
  • Hands to restore volume, minimising appearance of tendons and veins seen in aging hands,
  • Acne scarring
What should I expect on the day of the treatment?

We will ask you to arrive make-up free to avoid any possibility of infection.
The topical numbing cream will be applied to reduce possible sensitivity, associated with the treatment.
It is important to avoid make-up application on the same day after the treatment.

How long do results last after RADIESSE® treatment?

The unique formulation of Radiesse® stimulates the production of new collagen, with a lifting and contouring effect that can last up to one year or more without repeat treatments. It is expected to last 9-24 months; in some cases, the duration may be shorter or longer than expected, depending on age, skin type, lifestyle and the area treated. It will always degrade over time and you will return to your pre-treatment state without further treatment.
Your medical practitioner will give you all the advice you need.

How safe is RADIESSE®?

Radiesse is a very safe and effective product. The most common complications associated with the treatment are redness at the injection site, bruising, swelling and tenderness, resolving within a week to 10 days. Palpable lumps or bumps may also result from over injection. Areas to avoid would be in the lips and just underneath thin skin like the eyelids.

All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Radiesse should be administered by a healthcare professional with specialist training.  Your practitioner will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any expected side effects.

What’s the difference between RADIESSE and other fillers such as those, containing Hyaluronic Acid?

Radiesse has a different composition than the other fillers. It is made of calcium hydroxyapatite, not hyaluronic acid. Due to its’ unique property, it lifts the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin simultaneously, offering ‘THREE IN ONE’ treatment.
