Double Chin Treatment

A double chin, also called submental fat, affects many people regardless of gender and not always related to weight gain. Contributing factors may include age, diet, genetics and posture.  A double chin often occurs due to skin laxity, when the jaw is weak in comparison to the soft tissue under the neck, making people look overweight and more mature.

Double Chin Treatment

Information

Due to recent advances in non-surgical aesthetics, there are non-invasive options that are proven to have successful results with reduced downtime to avoid surgery and prolonged recovery afterward.

Non-surgical options for double chin can include the following:

Aqualyx is injected into any high-fat area, such as chin, neck, stomach, upper arms, legs and buttocks. Aqualyx destroys the lining of the fat cells so that they break down and are eliminated from the body. The fat cells that are removed through treatment will not return.

Radio-frequency (RF) technology makes the skin tissues permeable to macromolecules, using non-invasive techniques. It utilizing the skin’s water-based channels to allow the ingredients to penetrate, due to controlled RF and magnetic pulses delivered to the patient. This procedure is totally safe and highly effective.

FAQs

What does treatment for double chin involve?

Aqualyx is a deoxycholic acid product, makes the fat cells disintegrate and release the fat, before being naturally disposed of by the body. Developed in Italy by Professor Pasquale Motolese and launched in 2009, Aqualyx injections were specifically designed to target small areas of fatty deposits with a minimally invasive, injectable procedure.

Radio Frequency lifting is ideal for non-surgical and non-invasive skin rejuvenation. The radio waves are effective in fighting against the drooping of the skin. Specifically, RF facilitates the attribution of oxygen in the tissues, activates cell metabolism, contributes to the excretion of catabolic residues and stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid formation in the skin. The body’s physiological response to the radio waves is to progressively and naturally tighten skin.

How many sessions do I need?

Aqualyx treatment is repeated between two and five times, depending on the number of small pockets of fat tissue to be reduced. The treatment is repeated every three to four weeks.

The radio-frequency course would include around 8 sessions weekly.

Is there a downtime after treatment?

After each Aqualyx treatment, tissue response occurs, and patients may experience swelling that becomes hard and quite ‘woody’ due to inflammation. Other symptoms, such as redness, skin irritation and tenderness in the treated area can occur but will subside after 2-3 weeks.

Following radio-frequency, there is not any downtime. Some skin warmth and tightening may be experienced.

Who is treatment suitable for?

Aqualyx is suitable for patients who do not want more invasive liposuction or laser lipo treatments and do not have large amounts of fat to remove. It is not suitable for those under 18 or over 60 years of age. The treatment is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women, or those with a pathological condition.

The radio-frequency treatment is suitable for people wishing to achieve smooth, tightened and lifted skin. It should not be used on patients who are pregnant, have increased body temperature or on patients with a pacemaker.

Is the treatment suitable for overweight patients as a weight loss method?

No, neither Aqualyx® or radio-frequency treatment is aimed at the general weight loss programme.
