Aqualyx

Balancing our lifestyles through regular exercise and a healthy diet is vitally important. However, even with the maximum efforts, it can be difficult to tackle stubborn fat areas on the body. The reason for that lies in our genetics and special structure of the fat cells in certain areas with fat cells built up in subcutaneous tissue that can be challenging to reduce.

Aqualyx

Information

The fat cells’ overall volume can be changed, but not the fat cells themselves. These particular fat cells cannot be reduced and continuously serve as a reliable depot for the body to store fat.

AQUALYX™ contains a secondary bile acid, called desoxycholan-acid. Our body is able to produce this acid in the liver to aid the digestion of fat with the assistance of bacteria. The fat-dissolving effect of this acid was utilised by Prof. Pasquale Motolese, the inventor of AQUALYX. The active substance locks on to the fat cell walls and starts to operate, resulting in the cell wall becoming unstable and releasing the fatty acid. Cell residue is removed by the body’s defenses and the non-attached fatty acids are metabolised and turned into energy.

FAQs

What is Aqualyx™?

AQUALYX™ is biocompatible and biodegradable injectable product. It causes the dissolution of fat cells, after which the body then expels the released fatty acids naturally. AQUALYX™ is a complex containing
detergent from the desoxycholate family that has been physically modified in order to reduce the sugar-based slow-release system results in minimal side effects.

How many sessions of Aqualyx® would I need?

On average, three-five sessions over a few months with a four-week gap are necessary to achieve the desired effect. The injections are administered by a trained medical provider who will determine how many sessions will be needed.

What should I expect?

The solution is injected into the fat through a special AQUALYX™ sharp cannula using a unique trained technique. Usually 2
injection spots are required per region with the different amount of product used for different treatment areas. Lidocaine can be added to the solution before injecting to improve patient comfort levels. It is possible to feel mild discomfort with a warm sensation, itching, some burning, oedema and reddening appearance within the treated area.

Will the injections hurt?

Usually, Aqualyx® injections are tolerated very well. The Lidocaine is added to the solution to make the procedure more comfortable.
Following the injection process, you may experience some redness, swelling, hardness or bruising at the injected area.

When would I see the results?

The treatment begins to work immediately. However, there is a lot of swelling for around one week, which starts subsiding little by little. Some people report that their swelling does not completely disappear for four to six weeks post-treatment. This is all part of the lipolytic process and is to be anticipated. This process cannot be speeded up and inflammation is caused by tissue contraction, which is required for satisfactory results.

Can treatment with Aqualyx® be conducted during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

No. Aqualyx® cannot be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
